Losing, Said Of One Who Loses

In this case...losing followers.

I don't blog for the numbers, I blog for me. It's my release, my journal. But at the same time,  I do strive to post things others might be interested in.

I get super excited when I gain a follower. But I have to confess that I get pretty bummed out when I lose a follower. I tend to over analyze things. It's what I do (just ask Adam) and then I start to ask myself...

  • What did I do wrong?
  • Did I offend someone?
  • Am I not interesting enough?
  • Should I post more infertility posts?
  • Should I be doing things different?
  • Are my jokes and silly posts boring and dull?
  • Does Funny Face Friday annoy more than make someone smile?

Anyone else feel this way?

To better suit your tastes, what kinds of things would you like to see on Just A Little Off Kilter?

  1. I lost a follower a few weeks ago and I was also wondering why.... Like you said though, we blog for us and not everyone will find out posts interesting etc.

I also notice that when I blog about things that are "non" infertility related, I don't have as much feedback or comments.

  2. Just remember there are a good number of followers who don't traditionally "follow". I'm not a "member" of your site (according to Google), but I have your blog in my sidebar and I read it every day. I might not comment all the time, but I enjoy your quirky sense of humor! Keep doing what you're doing.

  4. I LOVE funny face Friday! I may not always comment but it always brings a smile to my face. I guess that we just cant please all of the people all of the time. Some of my fave posts are your funny stories about things that happen in everyday life, you are a keen observer, and your amazing weekends away because it always makes me want to join in. Just keep doing what you are doing lovely lady.

  5. I also hate losing followers, but I don't really think it's personal. I have so many blogs in my blog roll right now and I just don't "know" all of them. I will probably stop following some of them at some point just because I can't keep track of so many. I think a lot of people are doing that at the moment because they are switching their blogs from google reader.

My best advice is to be honest to yourself and you will attract the most people. (And do icomleavwe at stirrup queens).

    (I'm an over-analyzer too!)

  7. I'm totally an over-analyzer. And when I lose followers, I usually try to convince myself it was because someone closed their account or something and definitely was not personal, haha. I personally love your blog and especially the variety-- keep doing what you're doing!

  12. First of all, you have a TON Of followers! That is saying a lot. Also, who knows what the hell people are thinking. Most likely they forgot why they clicked "follow" in the first place and are too lazy to read all of their blogs.

But, that being said, I totally get it :)
